This week I decided that we needed a little color in our house. Our mostly neutral setting of grays, beiges, and whites is nice but I felt like we needed a little pop of color. I started this color journey a few weeks ago when I ordered yellow pillow covers for the couch and loveseat pillows (instead of buying new pillows, I went the route of just buying covers for my existing pillows. It was much less expensive and allowed me to re-use what we already had!). I ordered four pillow covers that were mainly yellow with a little bit of a design element and the minute I put them on, the room almost immediately seemed to brighten! While the yellow was doing exactly what I wanted it to, I still felt like I was missing something else. So off to the local antique shop I went, in search of more paint! I found the perfect color...Barn Red and set to work in re-doing a few of my existing pieces. I started out set to only re-do the dark brown vanity we had in our guest room but as I was painting the vanity, I looked up and saw the little round side table in the living room (also brown) and decided a pop of red would go perfectly with the grays and yellows in the living room! Four hours later, it was like I had brand new pieces! Sometimes a whole new look doesn't require buying new furniture but looking at what you have and finding a $10 can of paint that can breathe new life in to the old!
