About Me
Hi and welcome to a glimpse in to my life! My husband, Paul and I live in a small town about 45 minutes north of Atlanta. While we are still new to the area (we are transplants from PA), we are loving discovering all there is to do here, trying new foods and just enjoying life!
I wanted to create a site that shares my passion for cooking, food, wine and home decor. I'll admit I am not a professional in any of these categories but they are things that make me happy and when you're happy, why not share it?
Where did my love for food and cooking come from? Close to 20 years ago, I discovered the most amazing thing....an entire cable channel dedicated to food - The Food Network!
To better understand my new fascination, let me give you my history with cooking and food. Through to my early 20s, I didn't really cook. Some would have called me picky (if it had onions, it wasn't going in my mouth type of picky). My attempts at cooking were limited to tacos (because you can't really screw up tacos), instant mashed potatoes and overcooked steak cooked on my George Foreman Grill. In my teens, my failed attempt at chocolate chip cookies looked like a science experiment gone bad. By the time the cookies were done, they were unrecognizable, resembling a deep fried alien. Needless to say, those cookies went straight to the garbage can!
Fast forward to my discovery of the Food Network. The first show I ever saw on The Food Network was Iron Chef and I was hooked! This was a time when "celebrity chefs" weren't really a thing. Emeril and Rachel Ray were not yet household names but I was addicted. I quickly started taking mental notes and quickly realized that food opens the door to an entire new world! Suddenly, I was learning about different cultures through food! And let me tell you, my "picky" side started to disappear! While there are still foods I may not love, I believe that the world truly is your oyster when it comes to food!
On the Food Life section of this site, I will share recipes and food that I am trying and give you the inspiration for why I chose that dish! Sometimes it will be things I made personally or it could be delicious foods I've tried while traveling or out and about. What you will not find are step by step pictures of how to make the recipe. I wanted to create a site that is simple, anecdotal, something I would want to read.
Not long after I discovered The Food Network, a similar channel came to my attention but for all things home! HGTV!!! Two of my favorite channels were just one channel apart, so I would spend my evenings going back and forth between HGTV and The Food Network. Before HGTV, I really didn't think much about HOW my house looked inside. It was a place to live but never had that cozy, homey feel that the house I grew up in had. I knew I was missing something! I started watching and paying attention to design ideas Albeit there are some ideas that still leave my head scratching! I will never understand why anyone would want clear acrylic chairs for their dining room table but to each their own!
As the years have gone by, I've lived in many houses - ranging from apartments, townhomes, single family homes (if you ask my brother-in-law how many times he's helped move me, he can tell you I've moved a LOT!). No matter the size, it was always my goal to make our house feel like a home. Our most recent move was a big one.....from Pennsylvania to Georgia! We had the opportunity to build a house in GA and decorating it over the past few months has been a dream come true! It is always my goal to make you feel like you are home when you come in our house; the same way it feels like home to us!
I hope you enjoy reading a little about our life and that my writings can inspire you to dream big!
